Pluto Cazimi: Solar Power

On the morning of January 20, 2024 the Sun and Pluto meet in the sky at 29° Capricorn, marking the final Pluto in Capricorn cazimi experienced in our lifetime.

Solar power surges at the final degree of Capricorn, the 29th degree is known as the anaretic degree. It suggests completion, karma, a decisive choice needing to be made. There is a sense of urgency here which given the connection to karma lends consideration to pause and contemplate the power in making choices which align with a deeper connection to source. As my teacher recently shared… ‘Karma is the result of making choices which are disconnected from source and cause more suffering, while Dharma is taking purposeful aligned action centered on love (bringing love to places where there has been a separation from source).’

Pluto is an outer planet which moves slow. Trekking across the sky in the sign of Capricorn since 2008, today is a moment to consider the personal and collective journey over the past 16 years. The planet of power, life/death/rebirth, underworld journeys, transformation, infinitesimal to exponential perception shifts, hidden things, deep fears & phobias, and collective subconscious eruptions… Pluto tends to bring to the surface what needs to be purged (and/or) denotes hidden agendas in relationship to power and motivation (taboos & deep seeded urgings).

As the cazimi peaks the morning of January 20, the Sun will moving to 0° Aquarius shortly after with Pluto following suit in the evening of the same day, what will you carry into the next chapter? Pluto will return to Capricorn in the fall 2024 for one final dip into this part of the sky, and then stay in Aquarius until 2043.

Looping in some American History for you, the last time Pluto & the Sun made a conjunction at 29° Capricorn was January 19, 1778. Amongst many world events occurring at that time, this date marks a significant turning point in the American Revolution and George Washington’s encampment at Valley Forge. It has been said that the ‘reforms in supply systems and fighting tactics, along with reforms in military hygiene and army organization, became the foundation of the modern United States Army.’

Capricorn is a sign of foundations, tradition, building systems which support & sustain material growth. The shift between Capricorn and Aquarius is one of tradition & time-tested systems supporting innovation & the emergence of invention which often serves collective agendas. To build something new, we must have solid ground beneath us. Pluto has a tendency to reveal that which needs to be healed/cleansed/cleaned up in order to harness momentum necessary for change.
