Libra Full Moon
Libra Full Moon
April 6, 2023 12:34AM eastern time
I have to tell you, this one took me some time. When working with the lunar phases, the moon is full 44° before and after the exact full moon moment… so I tease… I’m still on time! (I love lunar timekeeping).
This Full Moon in Libra is about making &/or (if you dare) breaking promises. It’s about oaths, words that bind. Austin Coppock writes, “this face is nearly ideal for the binding of two things together, whether they be people in marriage, business entities, or merely a promise to oneself. It contains the formulae not only for knitting together, but continuing in happy union, and is therefore an arcanum of wonderful power."
The light of the moon reveals a truth (or two) about you, and a situation which requires your full attention. Maybe, you learn a little something about the other party, revealing the true nature of the moment in ways you may have been glamoured by before. Maybe, it’s about you coming into your fullness, revealing more of who you are as the moment unfolds (for better, or for worse). But what it does reveal is the fine line, that whether we are making a promise now, or on the verge of breaking one… the thread that weaves us into that certain path has a hold that should be approached with integrity.
In the second decan of Libra, where this dazzling moon rose two nights ago, we get a funny little phrase deemed Sweet Hustlers, Stylists & Seers. There can be something alluring to the game itself, of the dance required to bring the pen to paper. A lot more goes into constructing a world than just a contract. When walking this dotted line, take a breath and remember who you are. Let the full moon activate your inner awareness. Let no one take more of you than you are willing to give, it’s permanent ink baby! You are the key.
On the eve of the full moon, I sipped a blue lotus infusion, and watched the moon rise through the tall oak trees at my home. It dazzled through the budding leaves up towards the clear spring night sky. As I fell to sleep that night, I dreamt of the blue lotus flower illuminated like the light of the moon. In the dream, the flower bloomed and opened and went back into the earth in an endless cycle. As the outer layers of the flower merged with the space around it, I saw time itself ripple out in this same cycle, and I heard the voice of God say (I was brought up in the Christian faith to give context) Jesus died & was born again as a symbol of this cycle, to remind us that love is inherent to our design, and that we are naturally already aligned as the perfect expression of that design. That like the flower, like all of life, it is all interconnected.
The blue lotus flower does indeed open once a year for three days, similar to the full moon in Libra aligning with the weekend of Easter in the Christian tradition… of course, one can make assumptions.
I woke from the dream and walked outside, still half asleep, to look at the moon again. As I opened the door, with my cat by my side, we walked into a parliament of owls (lol). There were three barred owls, two sitting in the oak trees beside me, and one perched just a stone toss from where I stood. We (my cat & I) stared into the eyes of this owl for what felt like twenty minutes. Then, it flew silently closer to us, for a better look I guess. Has anyone looked into the eyes of an owl under a full moon? (I’d love to hear about your experience, I was shook!) The other owls continued to hoot and holler (no pun intended!).
I have been a little under the weather lately, so as I finally put myself back to bed it took some time to really process that moment. I kept thinking, oh I will write the post in an hour, a day… and two days passed. I slept quite a lot over these days. I rested, I danced, I wondered about the messengers in moonlight.
What I’ve gathered so far can be simplified to this: when we know something, from our bones, from a place within that doesn’t always make “sense” (though it is our 6th sense so to speak!) that my friends, that is a deeper knowing. That is the stillness of truth. So as you make your promises, whether they are ‘sweet nothings’ or ‘til death do us parts’, do so from your bones. Do so with the inner gaze of the owl through the night sky… with the ability to see through the frills and into the heart of the matter. Do so with the subtle shine of heart intelligence, the place that is wisely guiding you along each step of the way. Do not rush, make sure you are being real (with yourself, especially) but when you know… trust it. Even when it leads you to an edge that isn’t familiar, even when it leads you to an unknown. If you can trust your own inner guidance, you’ll certainly be able to find your wings for the flight into the edges of your comfort zone.
Before I realized that we were dealing with oaths and vows this lunation, I stumbled upon Steve Nobel’s meditations that feels pretty far out, but honestly, these times require for radical compassion and maybe it could help someone loosen the bind of a vow not made through intuitive integrity, or simply remind you of the power & value you bring with you into the promises you make. Above all else, you are free, and that is your power. Affirming Soul Sovereignty
