Venus in the heart of the sun

The planet Venus is a living symbol for the conduit of creative energy. Through Venus… plants grow, love blossoms, values are instilled, differences are harmonized, creativity amplifies, beauty abounds, and our relationship to money, worth, partnership & aesthetic is cultivated. The best way to learn about Venus is to notice it, to notice the days when Venus aspects planets in your natal chart. To notice the style you carry through all that you do, to be creative in the way that feels good to you.
Venus is sweet, but it is also fierce. Venus is abundant, but it will also stand its ground. Venus is intimate pleasure, small moments which mark the way for the things that make us feel most alive. Venus is the queen of heaven and earth. The ‘feminine’ expression of receptivity, love, sensuality and the ability to awaken the gifts within any moment.
Venus’s synodic cycle (relationship to the Sun in the Solar System) is an underlining framework for a mulititude of goddess myths, dark nights of the soul, biblical parables, and a different kind of quest which unfolds not by the conquering of what is out there… but the surrender to what is within, right where you are.
The beginning of this year carried Venus retrograde in Capricorn through to a significant turning of events. The first Venus Cazimi we experienced this year was January 8, 2022, at 18° Capricorn. This brought through the heart of the Sun during her retrograde period, leading into the expression of Venus we have been experiencing since early this year. Venus rising before the Sun each morning is Morning Star Venus. Learning astrology is never as simple as it might seem. Even within this one planet, there are many phases and expressions of Venus that come to light. Morning Star Venus is the expression of independence, of personal authority to love what you love and believe in your own style, to fight for that unique expression of Venus through you.
Somewhere in my research, I found a little Venusian treasure spoken through the tales of those who track the journey of Venus through the night sky. Venus moved through her Morning Star phase and peaked in the distance from the Sun in late March. Then… began the journey towards the Sun again… as she moved through a series of astrological initiations that took place April-October. The astrology of April, for those of you who remember, was a mixed bag of a Saturn/Mars conjunction (the last time we had a conjunction between Saturn and Mars was the start the pandemic)… and a pileup of juicy planets (Neptune, Jupiter, Venus) in Pisces… leading us all into the first full series of the Scorpio/Taurus eclipses.
I mention April, and the timing of all of the astrology in the spring of 2022, because it is important somehow to this moment. Venus has been a part of an unfolding story over these past months. One that possibly required layers of surrender, an acceptance that even when you realize the thing that calls for you… even when it feels so real you can almost taste it: the dream, or the thing you desire most, the love you hope for, the life you wish to live, the money you aim to make… what has happened over the past few months has somehow shown you a deeper realization of what is required to bring that ideal into your life. That there are parts of yourself that once made you feel strong, protected, valued, powerful… that had to be surrendered at the gates… that you must let go of in order to journey within. There’s a deeper knowing within this that may not have words, but an understanding. A need to balance the outer self with the inner truth… an assessment of personal integrity.
So… as Venus moves through the final moments of the journey through the depths… what have you let go of? What have you learned? Have you felt powerless? Do you remember the passionate moments of this spring and summer, awakening something within you that could not be ignored? It could be imperceptible to others, but looking back through this time… notice the moments which felt as if you had to let go in order to move forward. That is where Venus is now.
For the first time in our lifetime, Venus moves into the heart of the Sun at 29° Libra, signifying a significant shift into the way we experience Venusian energy. There is a sensation in this moment to simply sit with the things that bring you pleasure and beauty. To notice them, balance them. To bring balance from within, and around you. A moment to shift the energy of your relationship to what is beautiful, fair, and able to bring harmony to your life. Venus Cazimi in Libra, one of the signs Venus rules, is dignified and has more resources than the Sun (who has its fall in Libra… an ancient astrological term for a planet in the opposite sign of its exaltation)… all that to say… this moment marks a significant turning point. This moment is a gift, a reprieve, a purifying and cleansing initiation into the heart chamber of the solar rays. A moment to align to what feels right to you, and notice how the pieces of the puzzle will begin to shape around that deeply felt truth.
Venus in the heart of the Sun reconnects to source energy. Anything that is not aligned in this moment falls away. Venus becomes fertile, reinvigorated, and enlivened… and as she begins to move to her Evening Star expression… the focus shifts from identity to the ability to nourish the world with the beauty and love that she bravely carried through the ultimate surrender. Over the next 9 months… Evening Star Venus will move towards the horizon, beyond the Sun, and share more wisdom from this integration through your life.
Something had to die, armor dropped, becoming vulnerable in the months leading to this Cazimi. What did you surrender? Parts of yourself? Stories of who you thought you were? Relationship? Values? Attachments to money and beauty? The relationship to what you thought you should want… to what actually feels right for you?
The beautiful thing about the entire synodic cycle of Venus is that she never moves more than 48° from the Sun. She is in a perpetual relationship of renewal to Source Energy as represented by moving through the Sun. This process of releasing, cleansing, and rebuilding one’s value systems is inherent to the power which the Venus symbol holds. That maybe, value is instrinsic to what gives us life, but the power Venus represents is one that requires responsibility to that central organizing force of one’s animating essence in this lifetime.
On October 22, take a moment to reflect on the journey since December 2021 (the beginning of Venus retrograde in Capricorn)… through April (peak Morning Star phase). What was the story of your life then?
Notice what happened between April (Morning Star Venus decent towards death/rebirth in the heart of the Sun) and the current time… was there a shift?
In this moment, as Venus purifies through the solar heart: Let it be easy. Melt into (surrender to) the Sun. Do something you love. Be with those you love. Be in relationship with pleasure, intimacy, sensuality, nature. Add a little romance to your day. You don’t have to do anything to be loved… you already are it.
What would you create, if your heart was supporting the things that you truly value? Could you begin to build a relationship with money, friendship, love, beauty, creativity, sexuality, pleasure & intimacy which aligns to your hearts desire? It’s a feeling thing… only you know the answers to what your heart calls for, now.
“You do not need to leave your room. Remain sitting at your table and listen. Do not even listen, simply wait, be quiet, still and solitary. The world will freely offer itself to you to be unmasked, it has no choice, it will roll in ecstasy at your feet.”
Franz Kafka
