sagittarius new moon
Sagittarius knows that the joy of dreaming comes from letting yourself fully embrace a vision and allow for the potential risk of failure. The centaur, half man/half horse, embodies the connection between human & animal instinct. Centaurs were known to be wild, untamable mythic creatures. They drank, fought, and partied… enjoying all the debauchery imaginable. They roamed the hillsides causing mayhem and did so with unbridled pleasure and zest for life. Some of the centaurs were known to be mystics, like the Centaur Chiron, mentor to the heroes such as Hercules and Achilles. In the bridging of his animal and human natures, Chiron became a legendary healer, teacher, and philosopher. Bridging the natural world with the intellect is one of Sagittarius’ fortes. The sign itself, aligned with the Galactic Center of our solar system, can connect ideas and information, weaving stories and ideas into patterns that hold the essence of life itself. The joy of Sagittarius is knowing that sometimes, you stumble into the magic of the universe by simply aiming your arrow and letting it fly, with a goal in mind but the deep knowing that missing the target will only lead to the next adventure. Risk is simply the willingness to do something that requires you to let go. Let go of control, of the human instinct to want to calculate the outcome. In the balance of the Centaur, we learn to find joy in the passionate vision that call for our attention, as the arrow zooms through the air, a fire blazes in its path. One of inspiration, adventure, and an echoing laugh at the silliness of it all. Sagittarius takes big ideas, and lightens them with the infallible truth that one can never really know… its the journey itself that makes taking the leap worth it.
Along that journey, its a well known trope that sometimes the details go unnoticed, and the aim of the arrow shifts. A new inspiration alters the path. The excitement leads to a fork in the road. There is never one path. There are many, and many ways to travel them. As good as this energy can take us ‘there’, Sag knows how to let go with equal ease… and often little explanation. The sign which Mercury is in ‘detriment’ doesn’t spend much time explaining why it had to move on so quickly… its too busy focusing on the path ahead. Letting go can become a way to reconnect to the sparkling energy of not knowing, and in that space this Jupiterian ruled sign is filled with optimism of the thing that guides all they do: a little luck, a lotta faith, and an inclination for being at the right place at the right time because that’s how they see it. Along the way, not everything or everyone will want to keep pace. The roaming bachelor of the signs, it’s hard to keep up when the wind hits the wildfire of their inspiration. Anything inhibiting their freedom stands no chance.
This New Moon is a warm blanket under a sky of shooting stars. Make a wish, and maybe do something about it.
Its a real breath of fresh air, a flash of warmth, an invitation… a revival of spark + inspiration 🔥. Lifting the post eclipse season spirits towards the sky with a view of something shaping up to be surprisingly… nice. A door opens. For the past two new/full moons (both eclipses) the chart has featured relationships as a general area that’s getting a reboot… and this New Moon chart follows suit, but with a sensation of optimism, a stroke of insight, a beam of heavenly luck, a bolt of inspiration.
The subject of relationship isn’t just partners of the romantic type, it’s how we relate with life itself. It’s the relational conversation around who we are, and who we become when we commit to the care and focus it takes to merge our energy with someone, something. It’s how we see the world through those things we are in relationship with, and what is mirrored back to us as a reflection of sameness or otherness. It’s how we respond to both the ‘good times’ and the ‘bad’ that define who we are in this area of life experience. Its how we allow ourself to be woven into the folds of the tapestry, with whom and for what purpose, in our becoming.
This New Moon at 0° Sagittarius offers a refresh. A reckoning with what we need to release about our own limiting perception of potential. It’s a call to split the check, take only what you need, and lighten up a little. Shake it off. You don’t need to know the destination. A haze is beginning to lift, and life is offering up a path through the fog. You can put down what you’re carrying when you’re ready, believing in your own authority to know exactly what direction to head even if the outcome still feels uncertain.
Jupiter dazzles with a direct station moments after the New Moon aligns. Ruling over Sagittarius, this marks an emphasis on what seeds are sewn, plant with passion and light speed!
As the Mutable sign that brings Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere to a close, Sagittarius is a moment when the leaves have fallen from the trees and suddenly… we can see further distances than before. Our ability to see has expanded through the open horizons, and with that comes all the possibilities ahead. What you see in this moment will give you a glimpse towards the direction that the bow must aim next as the story unfolds through you.
“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”
Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Jupiter in Sagittarius
I hope this New Moon in Sagittarius becomes a door for you, a way through, a step forward in anticipation of a deeper life, a full life. In the words of my Dad who just picked me up from the airport as I finish this post… when a record gets stuck, you gotta bump it to get back in the groove. Lots of love y’all.
