It’s a new moon in Gemini, the first new moon in this sign since the previous eclipse series on the Gemini / Sagittarius axis. meaning… a big shift in this area as far as manifestation and stability goes! This particular new moon is ruled by a retrograde mercury which is about to station direct on the fixed star algol, and closely squared saturn about to station retrograde in aquarius, and trine pluto retrograde in capricorn.
Usually on a gemini new moon, we would feel a lightness, a breezy flittering energy bringing ease into our social interactions and curiosities. This moment feels a little more dense. It seems like something needs to be clarified, but we don’t have all the information yet. Maybe it’s a conversation that keeps us in a loop, with no progress. Maybe an argument, a creative block, a tension that feels suspended by some force beyond our control. The key here is don’t jump to conclusions. After the eclipse series shaking up this area of the sky, and now the first new moon/full moon without the nodes interfering, something is being clarified. We just might not have all the bits and pieces yet.
Bare with this energy. This week, mercury will station direct and start its move forward towards Gemini where it picks up more resourceful tools for processing. That happens on Friday at 4:00 AM eastern time. As Saturn stations retrograde this Saturday at 5:46 pm eastern time, these two planets will begin to separate from the fixed sign square.
Ideas, information, even gossip can be swirling right now. We might find ourselves, or others, grasping for the meaning of things. interactions might have a bit of a curve ball energy to them, making you feel like the boat was rocked, but who exactly rocked it and why? It may seem like things that sparked your interest just a few weeks ago are coming into a critical perspective, and even so, don’t have as much clarity as you had hoped for.
Instead of trying to solve the energy of this moment, practice stillness. Let yourself settle in the unknown, make small lists of what comes up. Not necessarily to-do lists, but just notes on what feels important now. This energy will ride us through to the full moon in Sagittarius in two weeks, so what we notice now may come into the light in a whole new way if we pay attention to it, and possibly let parts of it fall away as the tension settles from the aspects involved in this new moon.
Sometimes, challenging moments happen in life, and they don’t need to be “solved” or “fixed”. We live in a world that needs answers ( and expects them instantly). We sometimes forget that by defining something, we inherently create order but also create limitation.
In this case, if we choose to let this moment be what it is without controlling it or creating a box around it, it may find an unexpected way to manifest in the world. Sometimes that’s an advantage. As the energy of the skies would have it for this new moon in Gemini, we don’t have enough information to be able to truly understand this situation. It may in fact be an invitation to look deeper into our own patterns, our own perceptions of truth, to realize that the ability to create an outcome is not always a conscious effort. Scientifically only 10% of our brain is working at any given time. That means 90% of what creates our perception of reality is beyond our conscious mind. Lean into the processes that bring you peace and allow yourself to look at the subconscious realms through the practices available to guide you through the shadow. The answer may not be what you need after all, and it certainly may not be what you expect. Let it unfold.

Gemini is mutable air.
Mutable signs help us change, evolve. Mutable helps us take something beyond what we know, to what it could become. It marks the energy of the season we’re in shifting into the next. all things must change in order to grow.
Air signs connect & transfer & disperse energy. They are social, about the mixing of one thing to the next.
Gemini rules the lungs, shoulders, and hands.
The moon in Gemini creates a dynamic passion for discovering information. The pollenating ideas between conversations, social media, a chat with a friendly clerk at your grocery store. In Gemini, the moon collects information and passes it along. Sometimes the ability to transfer information or energy between one person and the next becomes the particular talent of this placement. A gemini moon is translator of somatic experience, a heard it down the grape vine kind of expert, a master at absorbing witty facts that add a quirky spin on a story. Individuals with a gemini moon may be sensitive to gossip, and may feel that others judgment of them gets sticky sometimes. The moon likes to gather, collect, and absorb… while in Gemini… it gathers, collects and absorbs all the things. Sometimes coming out covered head to toe in collective pollen can be a bit disorienting.

This new moon is about taking a step back and seeing what shows up when you become still in a moment of flurried energy. Here’s some tools to work with this energy.
If you find yourself in a looping pattern and want to re-direct that energy, use this tip. Gemini rules the hands, shoulders, and arms.
Stand with your feet hips width apart, soles of your feet rooting into the ground on all four corners. Raise your hands above your head, arms reaching outward in a gentle V shape, and hold it for at least one minute! This simple body practice can increase endorphins very quickly.
Breathwork ties in the other body part that Gemini rules, the lungs. If you find yourself uncertain of where you stand in a conversation or argument, take a moment when you can to steady your breathing. Here are two options.
Nadi Shodhanam - alternate nostril breathing. If you don’t know what that is, you can discover more here: https://yogainternational.com/article/view/nadi-shodhanam-kriya
Vritti Pranayama - box breathing or breathing in for 4 counts, holding for 4 counts, then exhaling for 4 counts and holding the exhale for 4 counts (and repeat). Learn more here https://www.yogajournal.com/practice/yoga-sequences/sama-vritti-pranayama/
And of course, just for fun, some Gemini New Moon activities could include
being in the flow with a creative practice, writing or journaling, dancing, getting some fresh air on a walk, chatting with a friend who knows you well enough to let the details slide (or doesn’t know you at all! ha), getting a manicure, lightly engaging with life and finding joy in noticing the little moments of your day.
“A little new moon tip: you don’t have to work with the energy of a new moon on the exact day it happens. Especially for this new moon, as it begins to gain light it will enter Cancer where it has more energy in it’s own home (the moon rules the zodiac sign of cancer, so the moon is well resourced to express here).
If you wanted to create an intentional practice with this new moon energy you could do that any time this week, and as the moon gains light in Cancer on Wednesday, it may actually be a more harmonious day to set intentions.
Some examples of simple ways to engage with a New Moon are to make a list or a mental note of anything in your life you’d like to see happen over the next 30 days... ideas, plans, whatever you dream of.
You could also just take a moment to begin to notice what is happening for you in your life, and watch as it unfolds through this moon cycle. It all begins by noticing how this energy is working through our lived experiences.”
